Mark and Jack review the new GR86, which seeks to fix all the problems from the original GT86/FRS/BRZ. I seriously considered buying a FR-S when it first came out, but the cons outweighed the pros, especially with so many other cars used at this ~30k price point. From what I've learned of the GR86 so far, I kind of want one. A test drive at the very least. I'd kill that fake audio being pumped in, that's for sure, but we have to be thankful that a manufacturer wanted to build an affordable car like this in 2022. Bravo, Toyota and Subaru. Bravo.

It's been a short week so here's a quicky. The French GP was kind of predictable. Hams took another win after taking pole, he just missed the fastest lap because Vettel was in no mans land in 5th and put on softs with two laps left. Verstappen had another strong drive, Gasly did pretty well in his home grand prix. Ricciardo got a little spicy out there with overtakes, got dinged for one of them but still finished in the top ten. Leclerc raced a strong race and almost nipped Bottas at the end for second place as Valteri was managing an issue. Norris had a great drive, even after a hydraulic problem almost ruined his entire race, but he still took points home. His teammate Sainz stayed ahead of him the entire race despite Norris being legitimately held up for a period of time (tire management and all). So another Merc 1-2 in the books, the French fans gave Leclerc a hearty applause and Ferrari is still scratching their heads on pace as they apparently figured a few things out with their front wing upgrade. Haas looked no better than Williams in France, they have work to do -- Grosjean had to retire in his home GP. We're back in Austria, which is a technical track that rewards aero, but still requires power; hopefully Ferrari can bring something to the table and Red Bull can finally bring a result in a home race. Merc is concerned with some reliability concerns with their latest powerplant revision, there may be a chance for someone to get within striking distance of breaking their GP win streak this season.

What more can you say about the last F1 weekend besides, what a weird, but unexpectedly satisfying race in Austin last week. Hams finished third, Vettel finished fourth (after spinning again touching front wheels with another car mid-turn), Bottas finished fifth (which really made Toto snap his pencil), Verstappen had a hell of a drive to take second place, finally getting on the podium in the USGP and everyone's favorite, Kimi Raikkonen, took his first win since 2013. Kimi earned it and was fortunately in a place where the team couldn't force a switch of positions for the sake of team points. The Red Bulls were really fast with the Spec C engine, but Ricciardo had some electrical failure leading to his car turning off on it's own, mid-race; unfortunately he's staying with his engine supplier with his move to Renault for the next two years. The Point Force India's where in a train for most of the race (sound familiar?) and Ocon finished ahead of Perez, only to be DQ'd later due to exceeding fuel flow limits on lap 1. Magnussen got DQ'd for exceeding the 105kg race fuel limit. Even with both of them taken out of the points Vandoorne still missed out on the points. Alonso DNF'd after car damage from lap one melee came back to bite him laps later, Grosjean and LeClerc met similar ends from contact with others. With the smoke cleared, Hamilton is another 3 points up on Vettel so he now needs 5 points to claim the Driver's Championship. Vettel can stay in the mix if he wins the last 3 races. Ferrari made up about 12 points on Merc in the Constructors Championship. On to Mexico. Viva Kimi!
