Enthusiast Topic: What's The Best BMW Of All Time? -- AFTER/DRIVE (Drive)

The After Drive crew ask an age old questions about the long lineage of BMW automobiles; which is the best of all time? The phrase 'best of all time' frames the answer in a very particular light, as the E30M3 definitely lead to the most motorsport and sale success for the brand, but is there any other car that better embodies what a BMW is all about? 3.0 CSL? E39M5? My criteria? Has to be an analogue car (manual transmission, N/A power, hydraulic power steering, light on stability control), has to be a favorite of enthusiast drivers (so sales numbers aren't important), being an M-car helps, but isn't absolutely necessary and last is know among enthusiasts for driving dynamics and engagement.
