Imola was an interesting race that had some curve balls; I'll let the highlight show you the major beats, but Valteri had some bad luck, but not horribly bad - he hit some debris which slowed his pace. Verstappen had some horribly bad luck with a puncture late while in 2nd place, Gasly and Ocon retired with mechanical failures/ailments and Ricciardo got on the podium again, but this time made sure to enjoy his shuey -- Hams joined him. Mercedes-AMG took their 7th straight manufacturers title, leaving the Drivers Championship the only title left to claim; Hamilton taking his 94th win has it pretty much sown up. He has the potential of taking it this weekend in Turkey. In the meantime, Albon and Vettel still struggle with cars more suited to their counterparts and Renault just took over third in the constructors, one point over McLaren, with Daniels strong performances. Istanbul Park should be another interesting adventure with many drivers learning the track for the first time.
Enjoy your Motorsport Weekends.

We've been waiting for this weekend all off-season -- the start of the 2019 F1 season. F1 testing sessions up 'til now show Ferrari with the edge, Merc getting things together and Red Bull ironing out kinks with its packaging in order to maximize the new Honda power plant. Haas and Renault look to battle it out in the mid-field and McLaren has some pace which they hope to prove is real this weekend. Meanwhile, the IMSA 12hrs of Sebring is also taking place this weekend, as well as a World Endurance Championship race on the same circuit. This should be a great start to the full motorsport season.

On a sadder note, our thoughts go out to Charlie Whiting's friends and family, as he passed away this week. Charlie went from a Brabum engineer in his younger days to becoming the F1 Race Director, overseeing high level motorsport for decades. He not only watched over races, but worked with teams and drivers on regulation nuances, requirements, safety regulations as well as working with the circuits themselves to ensure they were as safe as possible for each event. He'll be missed, to all of us motorsport fans as well as everyone in the motorsport world that relied on his technical acumen and effectiveness in his multiple roles.

Enjoy your motorsport weekends.

Neo-Vintage: The Ferrari 250 GTO Speaks for Itself (Petrolicious)

Our friends at Petrolicious bring us a short vid on the owner of a very special 1964 Ferrari 250 GTO. Of course this is a loaded statement, as all 250 GTO's are special, but this particular GTO raced and won the Daytona Continental 2000km (the predecessor to the Daytona 24hr), Sebring 12 hour, and Nassau TT. The driver of this car, during these race victories, was the father of the current owner, sports car racer Derek Hill. Volume is your friend.

Well folks, the 2014 F1 Season returns this weekend in Australia. Many things have changed from last year, including drivers teams, cars and the technology that will be in the new chassis. And better yet, this is also the weekend where the 62nd running of the Sebring 12hr will take place. While FS2 is still not available to most cable customers on the East Coast, FS1 is as it's the old SPEED Channel. Additionally, IMSA will be web-casting the event online. This weekend is the start of Spring as far as we're concerned; Spring Equinox be damned! Enjoy your weekends.

We have one hell of a weekend ahead of us, starting with Practice #1 starting at 12am Friday morning at the Australian Grand Prix. There are a ton of story lines for the coming season; Hams at Petronas Mercedes, Sergio Perez not replacing Massa like many people thought last year (who kept his job at Scuderia Ferrari), but replacing Hams at McLaren Mercedes; Vettel and Webber back at it again with Newey and the gang, Raikkonen and Lotus Renault trying to improve upon their standing from last Fall...then there are the 2013 rules changes. If that wasn't enough we have the 61st running of the Sebring 12 Hour race for ALMS. Instead of only SPEED2.com hosting the race this year the race will be on SPEED -- albeit broken into chunks. The Top Gear (UK) season finale is airing next Monday night on BBC America. Top Gear America is on break. Last, but not least, the current season of Fifth Gear (UK) (Season 22) will start airing on the Velocity channel at the beginning of April. Enjoy your race weekends!

Current Events: 2012 12 Hours of Sebring Race Finish

Looking back from today's perspective, this was a fantastic weekend of motorsport. We had the first F1 race of the season ending with a familiar podium lineup. The 12 Hours of Sebring too, had some of the same familiarity, with Audi's R18 program establishing the prototype benchmark once again. There were also many other story lines in this weekends endurance race in Florida, some of which can be seen in this race finish footage from our usual supplier.

After much anticipation, the Formula 1 season begins this weekend. We'll see who made the most of the new rules, including the exhaust routing and front wing tricks most of the front runners have spent the off season perfecting. Will Redbull and Newey walk away from the field in time attack or will there be a bit more parity at the top? Is Schuey going to have a competitive car? Will Webber ever win a Driver's Championship before leaving Redbull? Only time will tell. The 12 hours of Sebring is also this weekend, live via ESPN3.com webcast and replayed on ABC the Sunday after it's completed. Look for new cars from Audi (R18 E-tron) and Porsche (new 911 GT3 RSR) in the field, along with the usual suspects from ALMS. Last but not least, today starts the NCAA Tourney. If you're reading this, it's too late to make a bracket so just pop on the tube and ESPN.com to watch the craziest weekend in collegiate sports all year; the first two rounds of the tourney. Enjoy the warm weather and green beer this weekend.

As hard as it is not to tell you all to tune into CBS, TNT, TBS and TruTV for 2011 NCAA Basketball Tournament coverage (oops), we have a great weekend of motorsports to look forward to with the 59th annual 12 Hours of Sebring. The race Saturday will be carried on ESPN3.com webcast live; apparently it wasn't important enough to make live national TV this weekend. On Sunday, ABC will give it airtime, but presumably in a severely abridged recap format (1.5hrs). The 12 Hours of Sebring isn't just one of the great endurance races on the world stage, it's also the first point earning race of 2011 Intercontinental Le Mans Cup Season.
