Motorsport Series: The origin of turbo engines in Formula 1

F1 is form of motorsport where technology envelope is pushed constantly. From aerodynamics to weight reduction to power output, evolution is almost a synonym for Formula 1, and over the years the specs have changed dramatically. While forced induction was allowed as early as 1966, in the late 70's turbos were refined to the point of viability in these karts of yesteryear, but before induction was banned in favor of natural displacement in 1989, some serious track monsters were produced and tamed by the legends of the sport.
